Burst Infusion Tasting – February 2022 Event

Burst Infusion Tasting – February 2022 Event

The first Burst Infusion Tasting event was hosted in February 2022 by Elma Vertue. Ten friends joined, and we went on a trip down memory lane while sharing their favourite smell- and taste memories from childhood or travelling the world.

The hostess offered Rooibos-, English-, Earl Grey and Oolong teas. Each guest had a small teapot to steep their combination of flavours from the Burst Botanicals infusion range with their tea.

I shared one of my fondest memories while travelling with a friend in Paris. We visited the original Laduree tearoom, where your serve tea from silver tea set in the most beautiful porcelain teacups. I remember the fragrance escaping from the teapot as I was steeping the tea: Grapefruit with a hint of lavender complemented the pistachio macaroon I had ordered.

Other guests also shared memories from their childhood:

“I remember the smell of the orange tree on our backdoor, on the farm I grew up on. My favourite flavours for the day was rooibos tea with figs shavings or naartjie granules.” – Christel Pretorius

“I fondly remember cinnamon, orange and peach flavours from my childhood. I recently walked in the woods and would love to capture the smell of pine needles in a bottle.” – Christa van Tonder

“I remember the smell of lavender in Montelimar in France and the sweet flavours of melon, quince and peach jams. I love the taste of a lemon meringue pie.” – Anette Fourie

The guests were inspired by the versatility of Burst Botanicals and shared unique and creative ways they will use it in their homes.

“I will use the blueberry buttons in muffins and flapjacks and replace the carrot cake carrots with Burst Strawberry flakes. I can envision a Strawberry cheesecake with Burst Strawberry granules and flakes.” – Elzabé Oosthuizen

Christa van Tonder said she is inspired to serve Burst infused homemade custard to her family and to take her pavlova’s to the next level with different Burst flavours.

Alida Peel was the creative mind of the day. She presented 14 different ways she will use Burst Botanicals in her everyday life: in her bathwater, rinsing her hair, potpourri bags for her cupboards between linen and towels, burning candles, stirred into her muffin mix, garnishing sweet or savoury food, adding flavour to cookie dough, infused water and even knead into bread dough.

Anette Fourie is inspired to use Burst Blueberry Buttons with her Sunday leg of lamb. See what she has to say in this video.
